The Lilydale Eat Well Guide 
We understand that reading food labels is confusing and time consuming, and trying to make better food choices is not always easy. Lilydale has tried to make it a little easier for you with our “Eat Well Guide”. The “Eat Well Guide” is a set of easy-to-read icons on the front of most Lilydale products. The icons highlight the health or convenience benefits of that particular product, for example low in fat or nitrite free. The Eat Well Guide therefore, is a quick reference check to what the product has (or doesn’t have!) to help you make an informed decision. Look for the below icons on Lilydale products and strive to “eat well!”  | This product contains less than 5g total fat, less than 2g saturated fat and less than 95 mg cholesterol per 100g.
|  | This product contains less than 0.5 g fat per serving. |  | This product has 3 grams or less of fat per 100 calories or does not have more than 30% calories from fat.
|  | This product contains no trans fat. Industrially produced trans fats not only decrease your good cholesterol (HDL) it also increases your "bad" cholesterol (LDL). Trans fats may also increase risk of heart disease and is linked to blood vessel inflammation that may lead to other long term health problems. There are no known benefits in industrially produced trans fats. Research is ongoing to determine health benefits of naturally occurring trans fat as found in animal products. |  | This product contains 1 gram of fat or less per serving and 15% or less of the calories from saturated fat.
|  | This product does not contain any fillers. |  | No milk ingredients have been added. |  | No MSG has been added. While MSG is naturally occurring in some foods, adding MSG as a flavour enhancer may cause individuals with sensitivities a variety of symptoms. These include: headache, flushing, allergic reactions, itching, tingling, weakness, etc. Avoiding foods with added MSG is the only way to avoid symptoms. |  | No nitrates have been added. Nitrates are preservatives that are added to cured meats to prevent the growth of harmful bacteria (like clostridium botulism, which causes botulism). Nitrates also add flavour and colour. Health Canada has set the maximum total nitrate and nitrite amount that may be added is 200 ppm.
